Listen up
I have started listening to more podcasts over the past year. Sometimes I don't have the focus to read a book. The beauty of the podcast is that it can be listened to while working, showering, cooking, walking or driving. It's nice to use the time to be inspired and fuel my mind with ideas rather than inane thoughts!
With soooooo many to choose from, here are some of my favs:
Thinking Space Bookclub
I always wanted to be in a book club! Amazing psychologist Kimberley Wilson (@foodandpsych) runs a monthly book club on Instagram, discussing psychological themes of books selected to inspire, challenge and help you grow. I have missed this over the summer and look forward to the next book next month.
Feel Better Live More
Dr Chatterjee has an inspiring and informal chat with interesting people each week about health, wellbeing and feeling good. He has recently started doing a bitesize podcast on a Friday if you want to get a 5 minute fix of inspiration.
Fearne Cotton's Happy Place
Fearne talks to incredible people about life, love, loss and everything in-between as she reveals what happiness means to them. This podcast has become so successful it was turned into a festival a couple of years ago which I was lucky enough to attend.
Desert Island Discs
Eight tracks, a book and a luxury: what would you take to a desert island? There are over 2000 episodes of guests sharing the soundtrack of their lives. I love hearing about the path-altering memories of others.
10 Things That Scare Me
During each episode of this 2021 podcast, a new person will literally sit in a room alone and talk about his or her biggest fears. From cockroaches to death, flying, large crowds and even boredom, the discussions on ‘10 Things That Scare Me’ run from funny to deep and everything in-between.
Scummy Mummies
Scummy Mummies is the podcast for less-than-perfect parents. Comedians Helen Thorn and Ellie Gibson discuss a range of real life topics from fish fingers to farting, to play-dates and pelvic floors. Expect frank and funny chat as well as wine, laughter and sophisticated boob jokes.
Motherhood Sessions
Hosted by reproductive psychiatrist Alexandra Sacks. Expect to get emotional while listening to guests talk about the many facets that make motherhood one of the most complicated, rewarding, confusing and deep aspects of life.
The EC Method
Coaches Chloe Madely and Emma Storey Gordon record a weekly podcast to go alongside their group coaching sessions - answering questions that those in the group pose each week. It has taught me so much about food, training and mindset. These girls are funny too - always have a laugh out loud moment.
